Recipe insights
How to keep sardine toast from getting soggy
Why skyr works in sardine salad
Plain skyr binds the mashed sardines into a creamy spread without masking their texture. Dijon mustard adds enough sharpness to balance the fish and tomato. It gives a tuna salad vibe, without the tuna and the mayonnaise so not really a tuna salad but you get what I mean...
Can you make the sardine salad ahead?
The sardine mixture can be prepared ahead and kept refrigerated in a covered container for up to one day. Toast the bread and assemble just before eating so it stays crisp.
Children friendly
Not much to say, we had a long week-end, I did not feel like spending hours in the kitchen, the meal was ready within 15minutes and everybody was happy !
